HERO

After the war I’m back home

I fought with my heart and soul

Spent the past few months terribly

But we managed to attain peace finally

Whole nation is proud

Feels good to be back home

But there is something I seem to lack

Something seems to be missing

There is my mom, happy as ever

I’m in front of her because of her prayer

Dad is really proud

& has spread the news all around

Sister is smiling

As I can attend her wedding

Everywhere there is warmth and love

Something that I have been craving for months

This is what I wanted

Then what am I looking for

What is missing?

I’m standing under the lawn tree

I see my girl walking towards me

Simple and modest

Smiling her heart out

But I know behind her simplicity lies a brave heart

She holds me tightly in her arms

I can feel that she never want to let go of me again

This is exactly where I want to remain

She calls me her “HERO”

“HERO”

For my family I’m a “HERO”

Whole town is proud of me they call me their “HERO”

I’m my nation’s “HERO” too…

“HERO” “HERO” “HERO”

It haunts me

There is nothing heroic I have done

In all these sleepless nights at the battle field

All I have done is saved myself and my men from being shot

So, how can I let these people call me “HERO”

When the actual heroes lie buried behind the enemy line

My friends, my mates, our countrymen

Martyrs-who gave their lives for the nation

My best friend with all the charm

Died in my arm

I miss him the most- my “HERO”
